INSTRUCTIONAL
PROGRAM
In a
typical week there are fifteen to twenty hours of
instructional activities. In the morning each camper has
two hour length instructional periods in activities which he has selected to
pursue for a week's time. Two additional hours in the
afternoon involve a mixture of
instructional activities and team sports.
The idea is to provide each boy with an opportunity to try many
things and to focus upon a few.
Wachusett's
waterfront is an especially active and popular place.
Swimming, boating, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, and waterskiing offer
terrific opportunities for a camper to strengthen his skills.
No less intriguing are the varied land activities which a camper
may select. Archery, riflery, woodshop, nature and
campcraft, tennis, soccer and basketball may capitalize upon a
boy's skills and interests or help him develop skills and
interests he didn't realize he had. A key element of the instructional program is to help a boy move
along as far as his abilities and interests permit.
