SUPERVISION

The owners and directors of Camp Wachusett are Jim and Maria Weiss.  They have been associated with the camp for more than thirty years.  The camp's director since 1972, Jim has done extensive graduate work in education; in 1993 he retired from his position as the principal of the elementary grades of a boys' school -- for which he first started teaching in 1966 -- to devote his full attention to Wachusett.  Maria, a Registered Nurse, shares the responsibility of overseeing the daily operation of the camp and takes a special interest in the management of the kitchen and dining room.  The Weisses have a son and daughter, both married, and now count five grandsons as part of the family.

Wachusett's counselors are teachers and students who typically have enjoyed long associations with the camp.  Many first came as campers and later returned as counselors-in-training and junior counselors.  They reflect a common interest in the healthy development of the campers, an affection for the camp, a dedication and commitment, and a capacity for hard work.
